20th Century America, 1940-1945:

The Century, America's Time is a series done by ABC in the 1990's that tells the story of the twentieth century, a century dominated by technology, destruction, and a time when America became the world's greatest economic and political power. Part 6, "Civilians at War" tells the story of WWII from the invasion of Western Europe through the Atomic Bomb. WWII is the most devastating conflict in history, resulting in the deaths of about 65 million people. This total war was so brutal and destructive, that at war's end a tribunal was set up to try national leaders for crimes against humanity, a new league of United Nations was set up in an effort to prevent future wars, and the Atomic Age had begun.
