19th Century Nationalism (1789-1914)

I will host a live class at 10:00 am MT on Thu, 3-8 on the topic of 19th century nationalism. The world, 1800: The American Revolution of 1776 and the French Revolution of 1789 prove to the world that the common man could indeed run his own governments, and the success of the French army in mastering the European continent from 1795-1815 inflamed nationalist sentiment not only across Europe but in the hearts of Latin Americans as well. By 1848, all of the nations of Latin America were now independent, and nearly every nation in Europe had a constitution, a parliament, and a patriotic population. With Italian and German reunification, the map of Europe was beginning to look similar to today's map, and the nationalistic desires of its peoples would bring the world the Era of Imperialism and the first World War. We will cover the key events of this era in an effort to understand how nationalism in the 19th century transformed Europe and the world.  Project Credit: Attendance in this live class will fulfill the requirements of your live class assignment for this unit.
