World War II: Total War 2.0

I will host a live class at 1:00 pm MT on Tue, on the topic of WWII. The Treaty of Versailles, which ended WWI, was such a badly written treaty that one participant commented that "We would be lucky if peace lasted for 20 years." and when President Wilson came home, US congress voted against joining his creation, the League of Nations. This, the advent of the Great Depression, and the rise of militant totalitarian governments in Europe during the post-war era set the stage for WWII, which officially began on September 1, 1939. The six years that follow this date would witness the most horrific brutality the world had ever seen, and would see a struggle to the death between democratic and totalitarian societies that would consume the lives of nearly 65 million people. Like WWI before it, WWII was an industrial "total war" that completely shattered much of Europe and Asia and gave birth to a new age. We will cover some of the significant events of WWII and how the war affected the societies engaged in it and the world at large.
