The Stone Age, 200,000 BC to 5,000 BC

Hi All,

I will be hosting a class at 10:00 am MT on Wednesday, 2-1 on the topic of the Stone Ages, arguably the longest Era of human history. Asia, Africa, and Europe, 90,000 BC: No more monkeying around for the human species-the Age of the Neanderthal is coming to an end and the Age of the Cro-mag is about to begin. Depending on what dating system you prefer to use and what you're willing to call human (was Australopithecus a man or a chimp?), the human race spent a significant amount of time (about 9/10 of our history if you begin at 200,000 BC) using stone to make its tools. Historians call this era the "Stone Age" and divide it into 3 eras, the Paleolithic (Old Stone Age), Mesolithic (Middle Stone Age), and the Neolithic (New Stone Age). Humanity saw incredible developments during the Stone Age, including the development of language and society, rise of technology, the domestication of animals, and ultimately the creation of agriculture and the rise of civilization. This class will provide an overview of the Stone Age and look at some of its key developments in an effort to provide a backdrop for understanding the Neolithic Revolution.  Project Credit: Attendance in this live class will fulfill the requirements of your live class assignment for this unit.
