The Century Part 8, The Best Years (1945-1952)

20th Century America, 1945-1952:The Century, America's Time is a series done by ABC in the 1990's that tells the story of the twentieth century, a century dominated by technology, destruction, and a time when America became the world's greatest economic and political power. Part 8, "The Best Years" documents 1945-1952, the immediate postwar era, where Americans both enjoyed great prosperity and began participating in a 45 year long "cold war" against the Soviet Union. The G.I. Bill, pent up consumer demand, and innovations ushered in an era of material prosperity, and Americans bought cars, flocked to the suburbs, and tuned in to their favorite television shows.
