Hi All,

A cool way to get credit for a special project is through watching documentaries that you can access online. The following is a PBS video that aligns with material covered in Unit 2

The Triangle Fire

Ever wondered what working conditions were like in 1911? The Triangle Fire is a 1 hour American Experience documentary that describes the Triangle Factory Fire of 1911, the worst industrial accident in New York State's history. The fire resulted in the passage of 30 new laws regulating industry, labor, and safety, including the placement of sprinklers inside buildings to prevent fire. The Triangle Fire highlighted one of the great flaws in the Gilded Age and created more support for Progressive Reformers calling for increased regulation over industry. If you watch this riveting documentary, you will see industry in a different age and never take our modern labor laws for granted. Special Project Credit: Download the movie worksheet attached here and fill out as you watch the film, then submit filled out worksheet to the Unit 1 Special Project Assignment to receive points. You can watch this movie by clicking on the following link: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/films/triangle/player/ .

IMPORTANT: If you have to watch this in more than one sitting, please bookmark your place in the film because there is no memory; when you restart, it will start from the beginning again. I hope you enjoy this film as much as I did.
