Episode 1: From Bullion to BubblesThe Ascent of Money is a series of documentaries produced by the BBC and PBS based on the Harvard Economist Niall Fergusson's book The Ascent of Money, a Financial History of the World. The purpose of this series is to explain basic ideas in economics by describing the historical roots of the modern economy. Episode 1 of this series, titled From Bullion to Bubbles describes the rise of modern banking system and the stock market.
