Mask wearing is now optional after DHS officially ended its mask mandate on February 28th.
More than 40 schools statewide already have been given permission to lift mask mandates after reaching an 80% vaccination among students and staff.
In addition to ending the mask mandate, DHS reverted back to the regular bell schedule on March 7th for the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak.
COVID-19 changed the schedule by creating a long lunch block and shortening the lunch to stay safe. The new schedule has 69-minute classes and 99-minute lunch blocks, with a 30-minute lunch.
¨We are happy to return to our new/old bell schedule," said Principal Forrest. "A return to three lunches means the end to the 'long block' that not many people were fond of at DHS. The ability to implement the three lunch schedule was made possible with the removal of the mask mandate and seat limitations in the cafe. Overall, it has been nice seeing all of the students and staff smile and laugh again!¨
