Beyoncé shows off one of her many costumes during her recent performance in Dubai.
On January 21st, Beyoncé returned to the stage for the first time since 2018 and captured the world’s attention. Despite the concert being only an hour long, the audience was captivated by her stellar performance.
The concert, staged in Dubai, was a very selective and controlled event. The audience consisted of invited influencers and journalists. Beyonce’s husband, Jay-Z, and their children were also in attendance. However, there was a strict no-phone policy implemented. There were very few photos from the majority of the show. The audience and its reporters had only their memory to rely on as Beyoncé sang through her 17-song set.
She entered with a bang (quite literally) with fireworks as she started to sing “At Last” by Etta James. She followed up with multiple hits from past albums such as “Countdown” and “Crazy in Love.” Surprisingly, she did not sing any songs from her newest album “RENAISSANCE,” which was released in the summer of 2022.
The audience also received a special duet performance from her daughter, Blue Ivy. The mother-daughter duo sang “Brown Skin Girl” from the live-action Lion King album. She also sang “Bigger” from that very same album.
The grand finale of the concert went viral throughout social media, and rightfully so. This was the one concert segment that was allowed to be recorded. Beyoncé sang “Drunk in Love” as the whole audience rose from their seats. While singing a solo note at the end of the concert, she was raised to the sky in beautiful harmony. Her outfit stood out while a stage-produced storm went around her as she rose up.
As a viewer, the effects of this concert were astronomical. The lighting, the special effects like actual water rising, artificial storms, and all the dancers were mesmerizing. Those who saw the concert live report an unforgettable experience. Those who saw the concert remotely and small clips of it wish that they were able to attend this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Will Beyoncé go on tour after this performance? Many rumors speculate so, but until it is officially announced, the world is left with this stellar performance.
