Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Carry On, one of a three-book series, is filled with magic and romance. If you enjoy the mythical worlds of Harry Potter, I highly recommend reading this book. The main character, Simon Snow, is clumsy and funny. In his Magical world, Simon is the “Chosen One” due to his magic being so powerful. The problem is that Simon has trouble controlling his powers, yet everyone is counting on him to defeat the Mysterious Humdrum (the evil force that has been wreaking havoc on the Magical world for several years).

Simon attends a school called Watford School of Magicks--a boarding school for anyone who has the ability to control magic. All kinds of creatures go to Watford, such as fairies and vampires. Simon’s roommate, Baz, has been his mortal enemy for the seven years they have gone to Watford, and he may or may not be a vampire.

Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger

If you're a Percy Jackson fan, you should consider reading Keeper of the Lost Cities. There are nine books in this series with more to come. KOTLC is a fantasy book similar to the Percy Jackson series. The story takes place in a futuristic world filled with magical creatures. Sophie Foster, the protagonist, is a 12-year old genius living in San Diego, California. She is no ordinary girl, as she has the ability to hear people's thoughts. During a school trip to the museum, a boy named Fitz finds Sophie and tells her that she is not human but an elf. Fitz takes her away from her home and brings her to the elven world. Sophie has many adventures as she explores this new world and gets used to society, making many new friends, but also some dangerous enemies. Join Sophie as she learns what it means to be an elf with telepathic abilities!

Circe by Madeline Miller

If you enjoyed The Song of Achilles, you should check out Circe. Also written by Miller, Circe is another Greek mythology story about a witch named Circe. She is the daughter of Helios, who is the powerful titan of the sun. Circe has always felt like an outcast in her family because she is less powerful and beautiful. No one seems to like her. However, one day Circe finds out that she is capable of great power. Zeus is intimidated by her and exiles her to an island because of her witchcraft. She is happy to be away from her toxic family and to practice her witchcraft in peace. But there are dangerous creatures and people who end up on Circe’s island that she must face. I found the story captivating; it’s an imaginative retelling of the Greek myth.
