In partnership with the DHS Active Minds Club, the winter sports teams have hosted several mental health games with the goal of bringing attention to athletes who are struggling with their mental health.

One of the games included a girls varsity hockey game against Canton. The Marauders emerged victorious with a final score of 3-1. Captain Ava Iantosca scored two goals and sophomore Julie Cotto scored one. The win led the team to clinch an important and well needed win over their rival and helped them with their journey towards tournament.

The team wore green ribbons to show visual support for mental health awareness. The student section was decorated with ribbons, posters and balloons. Raffle tickets were sold at the game by the officers of Active Minds to raise money for the cause.

The girls basketball team also hosted a game. This was also another exciting 34-32 win over Bellingham. The team came out strong with high energy, playing hard not only for themselves, but for the cause, their community, and all that were in attendance.

Active Minds was created to support mental health awareness. They are dedicated to saving lives and to building stronger families and communities. Through education, research, advocacy, and a focus on young adults ages 14–25, the organization is opening up the conversation about mental health and creating lasting change in the way mental health is talked about, cared for, and valued in the United States.
