Mirror: What classes do you teach?
Matthew Galvin: Pre-Calculus, Algebra I, and Personal Finance.
M: How long have you been teaching?
G: This will be my 6th year teaching.
M: Where have you taught before?
G: I previously taught at Wakefield High and Avon Middle-High.
M: Where did you go to college?
G: College of the Holy Cross.
M: What do you like most about teaching?
G: I love getting to know my students and leveraging my relationships to make everyone get excited about math!
M: Where are you from?
G: Lincoln, RI.
M: What are your hobbies?
G: I enjoy working out, movies, listening to music, and hanging out with my bunny Phoebe.
M: What are your pet peeves in the classroom?
G: I don't like it when students talk over me.
M: What do you like about Dedham?
G: The community of Dedham is what drew me to this position.
M: What inspired you to become a teacher?
G: Some of my biggest inspirations in my life have been my teachers. I hope to give that back to my students.
M: What is your favorite movie?
G: Donnie Darko.
M: What is your favorite book?
G: Lord of the Rings.
M: Favorite song?
G: I simply can’t pick one.
M: What sets you apart from other teachers?
G: I'm a Certified Public Accountant and worked at PwC before I began my career in teaching.
M: Will you be involved in any extracurricular activities?
G: Not at this moment, but I will be in the future.
M: Favorite apps on your phone?
G: Calculator app.
M: Favorite food/favorite restaurant?
G: I'm a big Anna's Taqueria fan (one is opening in Legacy!).
M: Favorite sports team?
G: All the Boston major sports teams (Patriots, Celtics, Bruins, and Red Sox).
