Senior night: Girls soccer

The DHS girls varsity soccer team celebrated their four seniors during ¨Senior Night¨ Tuesday, October 25th, with a win over Millis. The team held a ceremony to represent their seniors, Lily Roslonek, Devan O'connell, Sydney Parke, and Isabelle Salaun.
Prior to the game, the girls decorated the bleachers and field in honor of their four amazing seniors. Both teams lined up and the seniors were announced to collect flowers and soccer balls from the team. Soraya Gonzalez opened up the game, singing the National Anthem.
The DHSVS team expressed so much love for their seniors, and teammates. Underclassman Quinn Power said, “We will miss the seniors and so will the field!¨ Lauren Pazienza, another underclassmen, asserted, ¨The seniors impacted the team in many ways and it's going to be difficult to replace them on the field next season.¨
Senior Captain Lily Roslonek is a four year starter for the soccer team. She has been playing the sport for 13 years. She also plays for the club ¨Scorpions,¨ On the team, she plays center forward. Her goal is to play in college. Lily responds to the ¨senior night¨, ¨I think the game went really well once we got into our groove. It was an important game and everyone stayed focused,” she also added, ¨I think the team worked really hard for the entirety of the game. Our defense shut Millis down very well, allowing our forwards to have many scoring opportunities.¨. She ended by saying, ¨This team has made my senior year one I will definitely remember. We have so much fun on and off the field, and i'm going to miss it.¨
Senior Captain Devan O'connell is also a four year starter for the soccer team. She has been playing soccer for 14 years. She plays defense and midfield and also plays for ¨New England Surf Soccer club,” she wants to play in college as well. Devan acknowledges ¨senior night¨ saying, saying, ¨I think the game went well once we settled down after the first 10 minutes,” Then added, ¨I think the team did great throughout the whole game. We maintained possession for the majority and had a good collective team win,¨ She concluded saying, ¨I love the team and they have made my senior year season a lot of fun.¨
Senior Sydney Parke has been playing soccer since she was in kindergarten. She plays defense. Sydney expressed that,¨this season has been really great. Our team is super kind and supportive and has made my senior year very special.¨ Sydney's expressed her thoughts on senior night, ¨i felt like the game was really fun, the entire team was very cheerful.¨ ¨i thought we played well and worked together to win.¨ ¨The team has made this season very fun and has made me more dedicated to soccer.¨
Senior Isabelle Salaun is a new member of the team. She has been playing soccer since she was nine years old for Dedham Youth Soccer in the fall and spring. Isabelle typically plays forward. Salaun talks about ¨senior night,” saying ¨The game went very well, we dominated the field and took many shots on net to win the game by a large margin. Our team works very well together, we are very focused players. The underclassmen went above and beyond with senior night!¨ Isabelle also acknowledges the season, ¨This season has been a lot of fun thanks to all the girls and happiness and passion they bring to each and every practice, and game.¨
The game finished off in a 5-0 win for Dedham. Goals were scored by Lily Roslonek (two), Abbey Keyes, Soraya Gonazelz, and Nicki Brown. Post game, the Dedham girls soccer team headed over to the senior night table to complete their celebration and give their four awesome seniors their gifts.
