20 years of defeat never broke down the integrity and brawn of the Marauder varsity boys soccer team. They proved that on September 10 with their 1-0 win against Medway, a team our Marauders haven’t defeated in the past twenty years.
A first half goal by senior outside midfielder Gabe De Oliveira, along with an impeccable defense effort led by junior goalie Michael McDonough were responsible for the victory. In addition, senior captains AJ Cucinotta, Michael Vassalotti, Kynan Davey and junior captain Noah Young led the team with a winning spirit throughout the game.
“The final three whistles were amazing to hear, especially after a really tough game. Medway has always been a really good team and we haven’t beat them in over 20 years, so it felt amazing to win," said junior midfielder Jack Solis.
The boys squad has won a majority of all their games. The attitude, hard work, and stamina we're seeing from this team is something we can expect throughout the fall. What more will we see from them? Will we see the boys make it to the playoffs? These will be answered throughout the course of this 2021 season. Stay tuned for more updates.
