Here's what DHS staff members had to say about their experience in Costa Rica:
Costa Rica is an amusing, friendly and adventure-filled country. The people love sharing their lives, language and pura vida culture. With a focus on nature and the outdoors, there's so many activities to do and animals, volcanos and local crafts to learn about.
My trips have included living with 3 different host families, taking classes at schools where my own kids learned Spanish, hiking in national parks, a "meet and greet" with sloths, learning about different ethnic communities within the country and eating their famous "casado" meal. CR is truly my happy place and I'm planning to go back soon!

¡Pura vida! is a phrase you will often hear in Costa Rica which means "pure life!" If you have the good fortune to travel there, you will understand how this small, Central American country embodies the phrase. There is an adventure for everyone! Where else can you sit on a Pacific Beach, explore a tropical rainforest, climb to the top of a volcano to peer into the crater and zipline through a cloud forest canopy pretty much all in one day?! Costa Rica is a truly magical place and Ticos (what Costa Ricans call themselves) are quite welcoming! I hope you get to go there one day!
