The DHS girls varsity basketball team have put up a tough fight against every opponent they've faced throughout the new year.

"Senior Night" was held on Tuesday at the DHS gym. The senior girls were recognized for their hard work and dedication throughout this season, as well as past seasons.

The Marauders started off strong, winning the first and second quarter with a 31-20 lead. In the last five minutes of the third quarter, the Marauders held out their lead with a score of 42-33, finishing with a final score of 51-44. Avery O’connor led with 42 points, Catherine Morse with five, and both Nicolette Brown and Grace Bender with two points.

O’Connor, lead scorer on the team, plans to go far with basketball, accepting a scholarship to play with the UNH Wildcats. Her teammates are sad to see her go, but appreciative of the time they had together throughout the season. Teammate Soraya Gonzalez described her as "a great teammate and a hard working captain who creates an amazing, supportive atmosphere on game days.”

Captain Catherine Morse has been an asset to the team throughout the season. “The seniors this year have really made basketball that much more fun for the rest of us," noted freshman Grace Bender. "They have all been so amazing on and off the court. They have made this season unforgettable.”

Forward Rebecca Scace always brings energy and excitement to the game. Her aggression shines through on the court as she blocks opponents and protects the net. She is a strong person on and off the court, and her teammates appreciate the dedication and energy she consistently brings.
