The boys varsity soccer team upset rival Norwood on October 5th with a 2-1 win in the annual Morales Cup.
Both teams fought hard through the first half, which concluded with a score of 0-0. The first goal was scored by senior captain Michael Vassalotti with 35 minutes left in the game. This was followed by a second goal scored by Noah Young with 21 minutes left in the game, making the score 2 - 0.
“Beating Norwood is always nice, but when it’s from an all around team effort, it makes it even more special," said junior captain, Noah Young. "It was great to have something to celebrate as a team during such a tough season.”
Boys soccer also held their "Youth Night" on this date, where the young soccer players of Dedham joined the team on the field to start the game while introducing the starting lineup. They then gathered in the stands to cheer on the varsity team.
At the end of the game, Dedham fans stormed the field to congratulate the Marauders on their win of this year’s Morales Cup and watch the team receive their hard-won trophy.
The boys now stand with a record of 5 - 5 - 1.
