DHS boys hockey team.

People all around town are talking about this season’s DHS boys hockey team. The TVL has gotten weaker, and the Marauders, much stronger. After a disappointing first round exit last year, in a neck-and-neck game versus Medfield, the Marauders have only lost one senior that had serious ice time. They hope to use this to their advantage and bring home a Tri-Valley League title.

Senior Captain Andrew Mercuri will play an important role in taking the Marauders to the top, while senior goalie Connor Stamm will spend the season between the posts, shutting down the rest of the league. Senior forwards Michael Flynn, and Ryan Davis are returning this year as well, and will provide some more firepower to the high motor offense. The Marauders have also added one of the best club team players to their roster in senior Alex Georgantis.

Graduated senior captain, Sam McGreggor, was a solid defenseman for the team last year. It is an unfortunate loss, but Mercuri believes that junior Griffin Moulton can fill his shoes. They will miss McGreggor’s size and leadership, but hopefully another year growing, and playing together will fill this gap. The team, made up of mostly seniors 17 and 18 years-old, will be a larger and more experienced team than past teams.

The first line on the ice for the Marauders will include Georgantis, Mercuri, and Jack Roslonek, and Andrew Mercuri. The second line will feature Reid Slavi, Pat Derby, Mike Flynn, and Matt Sollis with Slavin. TJ Harris, Brendan Stamm, and Mark Stelle on the third, and utility guys, such as Mike Reynolds, and Joe Gatto on the fourth. This year’s defenseman will include Griffin Moulton, Billy Parr, Jared Foley, Sam Blume, and Ian Stapleton. This lineup features mostly seniors, with some juniors, and scattered sophomores on the ice. According to Rosloneck, this will be the team’s greatest strength.

The Marauders have a tougher schedule this year than last year. They will still play their normal TVL opponents like every year, but their out of league schedule is more rigorous. They will play a dud of a team in East Boston in the holiday tournament, but they also add an extremely tough opponent, Winthrop, who they will see twice this season. This will be a good challenge for the team, and provide a test in the season to prepare them for a hopeful playoff run.
