The DHS administration began implementing a new hallway pass system on Monday.
"E-hallpass" is a browser-based online system that is used to manage all pass situations. The system enhances school security and helps to simplify classroom management by keeping track of where students are, how many students are out the classroom, and for how long they are out.
Once logged into e-hallpass, each student is able to create a “now pass” for a destination of their choice. Staff can then approve or not approve their request.
E-hallpass is being used by schools nationwide as a replacement for the antiquated methods of administering hall passes. At DHS, this was primarily a classroom sign-out sheet in which students would log their name, time, and destination.
“DHS' use of e-hallpass is in its early stages," said Assistant Principal Pete Cavanaugh. I am looking forward to hearing feedback from students and staff about its use and application.”
