Season 4 of Stranger Things is now streaming on Netflix.
Netflix dropped season 4, part 1 of its hit show Stranger Things on May 27th, satisfying its fan base the world over with action-packed adventures, sad sob stories, and fantasy worlds.
The show follows a young girl called Eleven (better known as "El"). El possesses telekinetic abilities and is on the run from the very people who gave her those powers. She finds herself with a group of kids that need her help to help find their friend who magically disappeared one night in the town of Hawkins, Indiana, which is no ordinary town. Sinister things go on there at night.
I was immediately engaged by this show, watching the first three seasons in one month during the quarantine of 2020. Caught in its web of drama, I even cried because the plot was so well-written and the characters so well-developed.
When I heard that season 4 was coming out, I expected to be disappointed because, in my mind, nothing could top season 3. Boy, was I wrong! The writing and raw emotion of season 3 continues into season 4. In addition, all of season 3's unanswered questions are satisfied while also creating new mysteries to keep viewers on the edge of their seat.
I won’t go into too much detail for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, but I especially enjoyed this season because the events in the story line up with historical events, such as the satanic panic, the threat of the Soviet Union, and the fear of Russian spies among us.
My only criticism is the inclusion of the music that saves the characters from the alternate dimension existing in parallel to the human world called the "Upside Down." It's a random and unnecessary inclusion that comes out of the blue.
This small blemish aside, season 4 certainly delivers. I will surely be among the rest of the show's fans excitedly anticipating July 4th, when the season finale is released!
