Boys Hockey Celebrates Senior Night

The DHS Boys varsity hockey team celebrated their seven seniors throughout "Senior Night" on February 2nd with a win over Bellingham, as well as a ceremony to honor their time and dedication to the team over the past four years.


Prior to the game, the boys decorated the rink in honor of their seven amazing seniors. Both teams lined up on the goal line cheering and celebrating their teammates as they got recognized with flowers. After the game, the team, overjoyed by their victory, gathered around their seniors to shower them with gifts as well as take pictures with their family.


Captain Brendan Stamm has been with DHS boys hockey since his freshman year through that time he has proven himself to be a great teammate and a very determined player. Ever since he was young playing on a variety of teams some include the “Boch Blazers and the Mass Bay Shamrocks”. He has put in his time and dedication to help his teammate and continue to carry the team to many victories and scoring many goals through the season.


Captain Sean Reynolds has been playing for the DHS boys team since his freshman year. Throughout this time he's proven to be a very focused player and is always ready to give or take a hit throughout the game. He is an aggressive and smart player on and off the ice. When we asked him how it felt to win, Reynolds said, “It was a sloppy home win. We should have had a few more gino's despite the amount of hots on the net, but can't complain about a win.”


Captain Gavin Keogh has been playing for the DHS boys team since his freshman year. Throughout this time he has proven to be an invaluable member of the team, always ready for the puck. When we asked how long you have been playing and what teams you play for Keogh said, “I have been playing for 11 years and growing up I played for Dedham Youth Hockey.”


Assistant Captain John Doyle has been playing for the DHS boys team since his sophomore year. Through his time he proved to be a great teammate and was always ready for the action in the games. Ever since he was young, he has played on many teams varying from Hyde Park youth, Boch Blazers and Walpole Express. When we asked him how it felt to win on such a special night, he said “It felt awesome to win on senior night as it is a big game for all the seniors and we were able to get Nick a shutout.”


Ian Stapleton has played defense for the DHS boys team since his freshman year. Ever since he was little he has been playing hockey and throughout that time he has developed many skills that he takes to the ice through every game. He continues to be a great teammate and overall great player. When we asked about the game, Stapleton said, “It felt very rewarding winning last night, it as a big win for us”

Tyler Monaghan has been playing for DHS boys hockey since his freshman year. Throughout his time here he has proven himself to be a fierce competitor. He has been playing hockey for 13 years. Through that time has developed many skills that he continues to bring to the ice everyday.


Nick Cotto is the goalie for the team. His fellow teammates describe him as a “brick wall of a tendy.'' He is a great leader and he is a big role model for the younger kids to look up to. Cotto has been playing hockey for 11 years spanning over multiple teams. Over those 11 years he has built many skills and continues to use them in every game.


When the team was asked about how their seniors impacted their team many of them responded by saying that they are great leaders and role models, and that they put tons of effort and grit into making sure the team can win.
