Cam Landers

Cam Landers - Varsity Goalie, Senior

Mirror: How did you first start playing hockey?

Cam Landers: My dad introduced me to the sport at a young age. From then on, I knew I was meant to be in the net.

M: Are there any new rules this season?

CL: Yes, we have to wear masks attached to our cages. Also, the benches must be spread out and only two visitors per player.

M: How do you feel about those rules?

CL: The rules will be tough, but they won't affect how I play.

M: How are you adjusting to playing at a different rink than you normally do?

CL: It’s unfortunate that we can't use Nobles’ rink anymore. But we're now using the rink I played at growing up, so it feels pretty nostalgic.

M: What are your thoughts on this season's spectators rules?

CL: I think spectators should be allowed at all games. It's unfortunate-- especially as a senior. The scouts won’t be able to see me shine in the crease.

M: What's your mindset during a game?

CL: Save, save, save!

M: Do you do anything in the off season to prepare for the hockey season?

CL: Yes, I go on morning runs and maintain a mainly plant-based diet.

M: What do you like most about your position?

CL: Goalie is the toughest position in sports. You need heart, grit ,and skill to be a goalie. Luckily, I was blessed with all of those.

M: What's your favorite hockey gear brand?

CL: CCM. It keeps me protected in the net.

Griffin Moulton - Varsity Defenseman, Senior

Mirror: What is the biggest difference between this year's team and last year's?

Griffin Moulton: We lost a lot of really good seniors from last year. Our team is definitely hurt, but we can still put in the work to win.

M: What do you think about the 10-game schedule?

GM: 10 games and no playoffs is tough. Obviously, we all want to play the full normal season, but we’re lucky to even get anything during COVID.

M: What’s your opinion on the new Marauder jerseys?

GM: The jersey has a really clean look, yet it’s basic. I like that. The material is also very good to play in.

M: What is your record prediction for this season?

GM: 5-5, give or take a win or loss.

M: How do you feel about this possibly being your last season of hockey ever?

GM: I've played hockey since I was four. It’ll be tough having to move on, but I’m just thankful for the sport and the experiences that have come with it.

M: How has the team progressed leading up to the season?

GM: We have definitely created better chemistry as a unit. We also have all gotten our legs back under us and are in solid shape for the games.

M: What are your thoughts on the future of the team?

GM: I know that after this year, the team will take another tough hit losing more players, but as long as the younger players step up, the future is bright for the team.

M: Who do you consider to be fierce competition this year?

GM: Hopkinton is always a powerhouse. They’ll definitely give us a hard time. Norwood should be a tough test, too.

M: Do you spotted any weaknesses in the team?

GM: No. Even though we are young, we have a solid defensive core and forwards that can score easily--not to mention Cam Landers in net.

M: How do you feel about only having 2 spectators at home games?

GM: I think it’s unfortunate, but I understand that they have to do it under the circumstances.

M: Will you miss all of the fans and being able to play in front of them?

GM: Absolutely. Between friends and family, the rink can get packed and the energy is awesome. It won’t be the same, but we’re going to have to deal with it.

G: Best game during your high school career?

GM: Probably last year's playoffs vs Brookline. We lost, but it was a great experience, and the energy in the rink was crazy.

M: Which is your favorite of all the rinks that you’ve played at?

GM: The Coliseum in Quebec. Oddly, the people that live up there love watching the youth tournament that comes every year. It’s almost like playing in a professional game with real fans. The rink is massive and the fans are awesome.

M: Who is your favorite NHL team?

GM: The Bruins They have the grit and grind like my team does.
