St. Joseph Prep in Boston.

Throughout the past week, we have seen protests and walkouts in support of keeping the doors open at St. Joseph Prep in Boston as well as Mt. Alvernia school in Newton. Both private schools have announced that they will be shutting down at the end of the school year.

According to the St. Joseph school board, the school will be closing due to “insurmountable financial pressures.”

Meanwhile,  Mt. Alvernia will be merging with Fontbonne Academy in Milton.

These closings have affected not only students, who now have to find a new school to attend, but also parents in terms of transportation and budget, as some schools cost significantly more than others.
