Mirror: What classes do you teach?
Jackson: Acting 1 & 2, Chorus, Music Theory (Music Production), and CN Music Connections.
M: How long have you been teaching?
J: In the Greater Boston area for over 25 years.
M: Where have you taught before?
J: Boston Arts Academy, The Jeremiah E. Burke High School, English High School, Boston Conservatory, Williams College.
M: Where did you go to college?
J: Lesley University for undergraduate and graduate studies at the PSI Institute (collaboration with Harvard Ed School and Umass Boston).
M: What do you like most about teaching?
J: Sharing what I know and love.
M: Where are you from?
J: Boston, MA.
M: What are your hobbies?
J: Studying Statistics, reading good books, and traveling to interesting places.
M: What are your pet peeves in the classroom?
J: At this time in history, not seeing people’s faces due to wearing masks.
M: What do you like about Dedham?
J: The people are down-to-earth and friendly.
M: What inspired you to become a teacher?
J: I was surrounded by excellent performing arts teachers when I was a young person. They inspired me to teach and perform.
M: What is your favorite movie?
J: Back to the Future!
M: What is your favorite book?
J: Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
M: What was the last song you downloaded or CD you bought?
J: I just stream music from iTunes.
M: Will you be involved in any extracurricular activities?
J: Yes, building out a musical theatre piece for the school
M: Favorite apps?
J: iMovie.
M: Dunks or Starbucks?
J: Starbucks for the coffee, Dunks for the pastry.
M: How do you take your coffee?
J: With Almond milk and no sugar.
M: What is your greatest accomplishment?
J: Touring as an performing artist and getting a major recording contract all within a few years.
M: What jobs did you do before teaching?
J: Theatre, music, television, and videos for major performances.
Theresa Stronach, class of 2023, is the Editor-in-Chief of the Dedham Mirror. She also competes as a Marauder on the field hockey, ice hockey, and softball teams, and is a member of the Performing Arts Company at DHS.
