Sean Combs (left) and Jay-Z (right) have been accused of sexual assault that allegedly took place in 2000.
Shawn Carter (aka Jay-Z), alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs, has been accused in a lawsuit of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl at an afterparty following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.
The accuser, identified as Jane Doe, claims she was drugged and assaulted at a celebrity-filled party. Initially filed without naming Carter, the case was made in December 2024 to include him. He denies the allegations, calling them “heinous” and “idiotic,” and suggesting they are part of an extortion attempt by the accuser’s attorney, Tony Buzbee.
Carter’s legal team has requested the accuser reveal her identity, arguing it is necessary to build a defense. Meanwhile, Buzbee insists Jane Doe should remain anonymous due to her age at the time of the alleged incident and fear of retaliation. The case emerges as broader legal troubles for Combs, who faces unrelated charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.
The lawsuit highlights the growing trend of revisiting allegations of abuse against high-profile individuals. Carter’s adamant denial has raised questions regarding legal battles involving celebrities and how they are adjudicated in the public eye before the legal process can determine the truth of claims made against them.
