A scene from the Royal Queen's funeral in London on Monday.

The longest-reigning monarch of England, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away on September 8th.

Her funeral took place at the King George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor on Monday. Thousands of British civilians gathered around the area in hopes of being able to catch a glimpse of the ceremonial ritual.

The funeral service had been prepared for decades and regularly rehearsed by the military contingents involved. The choreography was designed to be perfectly synchronized and sharp.

Perhaps the most symbolic moment of the ritual was the ‘breaking of the wand,' which signified the end of Lord Chamberlain's service to the Queen. This had not taken place since the burial of Queen Elizabeth's father, King George VI, in 1952.

The Queen was buried on Monday next to her husband, Prince Philip, who passed away last April at 99.
