Sabrina Carpenter performing on her Short & Sweet Tour.
I had the opportunity to attend Sabrina Carpenter’s Short & Sweet Tour at TD Garden on October 3rd, and boy she did not disappoint! This is Sabrina’s very first tour, so I was so excited to see what she would do.
The show began with opening act, Amaarae, a R&B and soul artist who I'd never heard of until that night. However, she definitely got the crowd pumped up for Sabrina and showed off some pretty sick dance moves.
The crowd went absolutely wild when Sabrina finally stepped on stage, singing “Taste” from her new album and absolutely bedazzling the crowd. The performance set a spectacular tone for the rest of the night.
She sang upbeat and fun songs like “Good Graces” and “Feather” along with slow ballads like “Lie To Girls” and “because i liked a boy.”
Before performing “Coincidence,” Sabrina had the two sides of the stadium battle in a singing competition, which I thought was really fun. She kept the crowd engaged during the entire performance.
Something I wasn’t expecting was a surprise song that was chosen by spinning a bottle on a wheel on the ground. The bottle landed on song number 1, which happened to be “Mamma Mia.” This song was a sing-along that I greatly enjoyed. The words to the song were displayed on the giant screen above the stage.
After singing her hot single “Nonsense,” Sabrina began to sink into the floor before finishing her iconic outro, which had the audience laughing. She then appeared in a different spot with a new outfit on and begins to serenade the crowd with the song “Dumb and Poetic.”
One of the most exciting parts of the concert was during “Juno,” when Sabrina walked down the runway of the stage to the front that was shaped like a heart. To everyone’s surprise, the heart turned out to be a platform that began to rise up while Sabrina was standing on it.
“Please Please Please” is one of the most popular songs on the radio right now, and it was so exciting to see her perform it live on stage. The dancing, singing, and outfits were all amazing.
The final song of the night was the one everyone was waiting for: “Espresso.” A brilliant display of confetti burst from the top of the stadium at the end of the song. I was so sad to see Sabrina go.
The stage design for the tour is so cool. It's built like the inside of a house, with a bed, bathroom, and huge staircase--all in white. Sabrina and her backup dancers (who had really fun outfits) danced all around the stage and in every part of the set she did little theatrical skits.
What was unique about this concert was the content shown on the video screens. In between costume changes, Sabrina kept us entertained with ads that looked like they were made in the 90’s. They were hilarious. These ads were very creative and made the concert all the more enjoyable. When the concert was over, a pre-recorded outro was projected on the screen showing Sabrina acting unserious and silly.
I really loved how Sabrina poured her heart and soul into this show. Her singing was above and beyond expectations. All in all, the Short & Sweet Tour was a fantastic and unforgettable experience.
