Matthew Perry, co-star of the massively popular sitcom Friends, has died at 54.

Perry was found unresponsive in the hot tub of his California home by local police on October 29th. His death was later confirmed by Capt. Scot Williams of the Los Angeles Police Department’s robbery-homicide division.

Williams told CNN that there was no foul play involved. At this time, the cause of death is unknown. Once the toxicology reports are released, however, additional information will be supplied on the matter.

Perry's death has touched the hearts of millions. His performance as Chandler Bing on Friends brought joy to viewers all over the world. Fans have been lining up outside the New York apartment, where the exterior of the show apartments were filmed, to pay tribute to Perry, leaving behind flowers, cards, and pictures.

Friends is one of the most successful sitcoms in television history. An estimated 52 million people in the United States viewed the series finale.

Perry had been very open about his struggle with substance abuse throughout his life. He was reportedly sober during his final years

"We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother," Perry's family said in a statement to People Magazine. "Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love."
