Best Supporting Actress winner Da'Vine Joy Randolph on the red carpet at the 96th Academy Awards.

Last Sunday saw the 96th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The ceremony honored and rewarded all aspects of the film industry.

As the stars walked into the theater, many stopped on the red carpet to have their picture taken, and some were interviewed by reporters, influencers, new channels, and television networks.

The first award of the night, Best Supporting Actress, was given to Da'Vine Joy Randolph for her performance as a boarding school cafeteria manager in "The Holdovers." The Best Supporting Actor award was given to first time Oscar-winner Robert Downey Jr. for his role in “Oppenheimer.”

The first musical performance of the night  was by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell. They performed “What Was I Made For?” from the “Barbie” movie. Eilish later won an Oscar for the song, making her the youngest person to have won two Oscars. Ryan Gosling entertained the star-studded audience with a rendition of “I’m Just Ken,” which included a group of dancing Kens in the background. Other performers included Becky G, Jon Batiste, Scott George, and the Osage Singers.

Oppenheimer was nominated for 13 awards and won a total of 7 (Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing), while Barbie was nominated for eight and only won one (Best Song).

Although many of the celebrities that walked the red carpet chose to wear simple outfits, there were a few who did no go that route. Ariana Grande showed up in a strapless, pink dress with a pillow like train, and Andrea Riseborough arrived in a long sleeve plaid dress that eventually faded to black at the bottom.
