Mirror: What classes do you teach? 

Petrella: I teach in the Bridges Program with Mrs. Connolly- I am teaching an English class and two strategy classes. I also co-teach English 4 with Mr. Nilsen and Algebra 3 with Mrs. Edwards. 

M: How long have you been teaching? 

P: This is my first year; however, I have previous teaching experience in Connecticut.

M: Where are you from? 

P: Willington, Connecticut.

M: Where did you go to college? 

P: Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.

M: What inspired you to become a teacher?

P: I love working and creating relationships with kids. 

M: What are your pet peeves in the classroom? 

P: When students are on their phone when I am speaking.  

M: What jobs have you had before teaching? 

P: I worked as a waitress at a golf course. I was also a substitute teacher at schools in Connecticut. 

M: Why did you decide to come to Dedham?

P: I chose Dedham because everybody was so welcoming and friendly. I felt comfortable as soon as I stepped into this school, and I felt connected to the staff. I also appreciated the team atmosphere. Everybody is committed and dedicated to making a difference in their students' lives. The teachers here inspire me.

M: What is your greatest personal accomplishment?

P: Becoming a black belt in karate. 

M: What are your hobbies?

P: Going on runs with my dog, doing yoga, baking, and exploring new places with my friends. 

M: What is your favorite sport to play? To watch? 

P: My favorite sport to play is softball. I played softball at Southern Connecticut State University for five years. My favorite sport to watch is college basketball and softball. 

M: What is your favorite food and drink?

P: My favorite food is sushi and raspberry lemon cheesecake. My favorite drink is pink lemonade.

M: What are you most looking forward to this school year? 

P: Creating relationships with the students and learning from Mrs. Connolly. She is my mentor and she has welcomed me with open arms and has made the first week of school a blast for me. Can't wait for the year ahead! :)
