Ahmed Reda will be walking out of DHS for the last time this coming May. During his time at DHS, Ahmed has played a handful of sports, joined a number of clubs, and just recently became a member of the Performing Arts Company. The DHS community will definitely miss his presence when he leaves.

In the sports department, Ahmed found himself a part of the football, swim, basketball, cross country, and track teams. Most notably, he spent his senior year playing football, swimming, and running cross country. For Ahmed, sports heighten his motivation. He found himself motivated to complete common tasks as well as accomplish bigger goals. This improved his overall performance on and off the field.

The many coaches Ahmed has come across have all left positive impacts on his life, pushing him to excel, and how he forever grateful for their efforts in putting him in the best form, both physically and mentally. An special commendation goes out to his football coach, David Flynn. “I was provided with an extraordinary amount of life advice from my football coach, and for that I am eternally indebted. For him to have taken me under his wing, not only in the game of football, but in the realities of life itself, is something I am so grateful for.”

When it comes to his teammates, Ahmed learned the importance of performing to the best of your abilities for those around you and not just for yourself. His teammates have always pushed him to do better. He made connections with them that lasted outside the hours of the sport. Additionally, Ahmed understood that so many amazing memories were caused by him taking a chance freshman year and playing a sport in high school.

Within the past couple of years, Ahmed started taking interest in school clubs. He became a member of the math club and the science club during his junior year. This year, Ahmed joined the Performing Arts Company. With only one audition, Ahmed landed the part of Gomez in the Addams Family musical.

School clubs allowed him opportunities to relieve stress, make friends, and learn important life skills. “I would like to emphasize how welcoming the Performing Arts Company was when I first auditioned for and acquired the lead role of Gomez in the Addams Family Musical. The environment as a whole was lively and vibrant as I made new friends along the way. Being a part of the Performing Arts Company changed my experience of being a high school senior when trying to adjust to the affected weekly school schedule. I am mostly in gratitude for the fine individuals I worked with, and the memories I have made thus far will be remembered throughout my lifetime.”

Ahmed wants to express his never ending gratitude for the teachers of DHS. He realizes how devoted they are in helping students achieve objectives far beyond their expectations. He will be forever grateful to them for carrying out such a heavy responsibility.

In the future, Ahmed sees himself pursuing a position in the medical field. He seeks to help as many people as he can--not necessarily because he would want to be remembered as someone who helps people, but because he believes that "each individual on the earth has the opportunity to be great and help push humanity towards greatness throughout all civilizations."

Ahmed’s advice for underclassmen: “I would advise to take as many classes as possible so you can expand your knowledge in different areas of the academic curriculum, as it can also benefit you for later parts in life. You should also partake in several clubs and community service opportunities, because you have the ability to enjoy being part of an individually charismatic group of people while doing something you love. Sports are not to be underestimated, either, as they project several life lessons through any type of physical and rigorous activity. Once you find a profession you are seriously invested in, stick to it for the rest of your life and continue to seek ways in which you can make the world a better place. You should always remember that we are all part of a generation that the world will lean on at one point, so you should set limits for yourself and try to go above and beyond them for your sake and everyone else's.”

DHS wishes Ahmed Reda the best in his future and expects nothing but amazing things from him.
