Euphoria Among Top Winners at 74th Emmy Awards

The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards aired on September 12th. This year the show returned to the original pre-covid format, and was held in the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Kenan Thompson (most known for SNL, Kenan & Kel, and Good Burger) hosted.


HBO's The White Lotus was a big winner with a total of five awards. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver won for Best Variety Talk Series for the seventh year in a row. Other repeat winners included, Supporting Dramatic Actress (Julia Garner got for her role in Ozark) and Best Comedic Supporting Actor (Brett Goldstein for his role in Ted Lasso).


In addition, Euphoria won six Emmys this year and they including, Outstanding Contemporary Makeup; Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Zendaya, who played Rue in the series; Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for Coman Domingo as Ali in the series; Outstanding Choreography for Scripted Programming; Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series; and Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series.


The popular Abbot Elementary received seven nominations and took home three Emmys, while the equally popular Ted Lasso received 20 nominations and ended up winning four.


Succession, Ted Lasso, and The White Lotus took home three of the biggest prizes of the night: Best Drama Series, Comedy Series, and Limited Series, respectively.
