Birdie's Spicy Chicken Slider (Combo #7).

Vivian Chow, founder of Birdie's Hot Chicken, was inspired by what she was tasting in Nashville and wanted to bring the concept to Massachusetts. Her first restaurant opened in Brockton in February of 2022 to rave reviews. So, when I heard a second store was opened at the University Station shopping center in Westwood, I decided I needed to try it for myself.

The menu consists of a variety of fried chicken meals, ranging from tenders to sliders. The customer is in control the spice level--a definite credit to the establishment. The levels ranges from "mild" to "grim reaper" (which is rumored to require a signed waiver).

Walking into the restaurant I was immediately greeted by a friendly cashier. The menu was large and bold above the counter. There were six or seven tables with four chairs each to the left, with a drink fountain in the back. I ordered the slider combo which comes with one chicken tender with coleslaw on a bun with fries on the side and the secret Birdie sauce.

If you’re all about chicken, Birdie's is probably the place for you. In my assessment, their food tasted very similar to Dave’s Hot Chicken in Newton. I didn't notice a big difference between the two. As far as spice is concerned, I recommend the "medium" spice level for anyone who thinks they have a good spice tolerance and the "mild" for people with less tolerance.

4 out of 5 stars.
