This year's pep rally was the best one since I've been a student at DHS. Instead of being held outside on the football field, the event took place inside the main gym. Although it was a simple change, it made a huge difference in the fun and excitement for both students and teachers. The smaller space made it easier for students to cheer on their friends and hear our very talented band.
The new games and activities were refreshing and brought lots of excitement, especially the wig stitching and musical chairs, while "Human Hungry Hungry Hippos" left everyone laughing. Both the band and the cheerleading team added extra excitement and created a fun atmosphere, boosting school spirit to a level I have not seen before
I asked junior Emmy Lange what she thought of the rally: “I think the overall energy was much better than in previous years because of it being indoors,” she said.
I also wanted to get Mr. Medeiros's opinion. He is the staff member in charge of putting together the pep rallies. He said, "I thought this year's pep rally had a lot more energy and enthusiasm than in the past. There were a few things that did not run as smoothly as we hoped, but overall it seemed to accomplish the goal of boosting school spirit."
One thing I wish had also changed is the duration. Although it was a tremendous amount of fun, it did feel somewhat rushed. We only have one pep rally a year, so why not extend it and make it a longer experience? Regardless, I hope this current setup continues in the future!
