Under the leadership of coaches Lisa LeClair, Kevin Leonard, and Melissa Mixer, the winter track teams closed out their seasons with broken records and new personal bests.
One of the major highlights of this season took place at the TVL Championship held at the TRACK at New Balance on January 26th. Sophomore Levon Roussin placed 1st in the 1000m with a time of 2:40. Sophomore Nick Valle followed closely with a time of 2:54. Senior Zachary Lemberger earned a time of 1:26, placing 3rd in the 600m. Additionally, Senior Jayden Brown took first place in the 12 lb Shot Put, with a throw of 52’5.
The girls also excelled at the TVL meet, earning many personal bests. Freshman Allison Finkel finished 3rd in the mile with a time of 5:33. Freshman Kaylee Nunes finished 5th in the 55m hurdles at 7.78 seconds. Sophomore Molly Hernon had a tight race in the 300m, coming in at 44.58 (only a few seconds behind the winner). Sophomore Anya Zessis displayed some solid running in the 600 with a PR of 1:51.
Junior Corinne Elmore made headway in the distance group this season with a PR of 14:50 in the 2-mile.
Another strong meet for the Marauders took place at the MIAA Division 4 Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 15th held at the Reggie Lewis Center. The boys mile was a tight race, with Sophomore Townsend Roussin in 9th with a time of 4:44, and sophomore Henry Humphreys coming in at 4:50. Levon Roussin, Townsend Roussin, Nick Valle, and Zachary Lemberger ran a strong 4x800 relay with a time of 8:50, coming in 5th out of 24 teams.
For the girls, Amariah Montaque racked up points all season, running the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.95, gaining her 4th. The girls also pulled together an amazing relay. Allison Finkel, Molly Hernon, and sophomores Julia Solorzano and Madelyn Blaney ran the 4x400 with a time of 4:36.
