Theresa Stronach at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore this summer.
Theresa Stronach, a junior at Dedham High School, made a dream come true this summer by attending an education program at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
Stronach is determined to be a doctor one day and was eager to get started on her future career. The idea of attending a summer program came to her in a dream she had about going to college over the summer. She then thought to herself, “This is a great idea.” So, she browsed the internet and researched various college-level summer programs for high school students. Stronach a applied to three: Harvard, Georgetown, and Johns Hopkins. She was accepted to all of them, but ultimately decided that Johns Hopkins was the best fit.
The courses she enrolled in were medical-based and consisted of note-taking and virtual labs. Overall, it was a very stimulating experience for her. She also had the opportunity to make friends from different places around the world.
Stronach highly recommends participating in summer programs. Not only to students interested in the medical field, but also students interested in other career endeavors as well.
Says Stronach, “If there is something that you want to be in the future, or you aren’t sure of what you want to do when you graduate, consider attending one of these programs. They can help you figure it all out."
