The Association's Annual Holiday Party was held at the Saddle River Valley Cultural Center in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey on Saturday, December 9, 2000. We had a good turnout, with a nice variety of food and from what we could see, people were enjoying themselves.
There was no formal program. The episodes of ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE drew a nice crowd early in the evening, and about a dozen viewed CAST A DEADLY SPELL later at night.
Among the main dishes were pizza brought by Sharon Archer and Bruce Wallace, barbecued chicken by both Paul Dellechiaie and Nancy Denker, ham by Patricia Nash, London broil by Pamela Webber, and fried chicken by Barry Weinberger and Taras Wolansky.
Side dishes included a lox platter by Roy Greenberg, Spanish rice by James La Barre and Karen Boyle, tortellini salad by Kate Landis, and turkey mushroom rice brought by William Wagner.
Vegetable and fruit dishes included string bean casserole by Philip De Parto, a selection of fruit by Mary Ann Denny, carrot and garlic salad by Charles Garofalo, green salad by Kathleen Holusha, and tangerines by Tom Purdy.
Among the desserts were an ice cream cake brought by Joan Hardy, cookies brought by Ellen Heine, crustava by Maia Leibowitz, apple pie by William Molendyk, poppy seed cake by Alan Polyniak, banana, grapefruit and fudge muffins by Jim and Steve Spinosa, and John Upton's ever popular cinnamon buns.
The angel award goes to Carol Smith who brought grocery bags of food including a vegetable try, egg nog, and much, much more. Robert Yeager brought a platter of shrimp which went even faster than John's buns.
There was considerably more food than is listed above. Many people brought more than one item and not everyone's contribution was written down. There was a nice variety of things to eat and very little went to waste. We did not run short on anything and everyone made an effort to be there at or near the scheduled time.
Steve Rubin, William Wagner, and Pamela Webber played Santa by bringing books, videos, and other items which anyone could take for free.
As usual, many people helped with the set up and clean up; thanks to all, especially Steve Herr, William Molendyk, Jim and Steve Spinosa, William Wagner, Pamela Webber and Taras Wolansky.
