The May 14, 2016 General Meeting of the Science Fiction Association of Bergen County was held at the Bergen Highlands United Methodist Church in Upper Saddle River. Urban fantasy writer Jordanna Max Brodsky was our speaker.

Vincent Carlucci ably filled in for an absent Barry Weinberger at the Ice Nine pre meeting discussion. The usual mix of genre movies, television, books and other media were bandied about. Patricia Nash guided the Writers' Space Salon read-and-discuss gathering which featured fiction by Diana Davis, Tom MacCarol, Terri Prizzi and newcomer Carlos Lewis.

Jordanna Max Brodsky is the author of the Olympus Rising trilogy from Orbit Books, an urban fantasy series set in contemporary Manhattan. Our guest chose Artemis as her heroine because she felt the goddess is an unusually complex deity. Artemis is easily offended, deeply loyal, a protector of women and a pitiless hunter. Like the other gods of her pantheon, Artemis has only a small fraction of the power and glory she once possessed. Now called Selene DiSilva, the goddess works as an unlicensed New York City PI specializing in protecting abused women.
