The November 9, 1996 meeting of the Association was held at the Saddle River Valley Cultural Center in Upper Saddle River. The program consisted of two videos and two question and answer sessions.

The program began with Executive Producer/Writer Buddy Scalera introducing his fellow program participants, Director Mike Stranieri, Actor/Scriptwriter Mikey Fasulo, and Production Assistant/Actress Amy So. He then introduced the main feature, THE B-FILES, a spoof of THE X-FILES.

Never having watched an episode of THE X-FILES, I am poor judge of how the short feature worked as a spoof, but it seemed in keeping with my second hand knowledge of the show.

The people in the club most knowledgeable about film had kind words about the presentation, praising the pacing, camerawork, and writing. On the minus side, there were technical difficulties with the sound and not all of the actors seemed up to their parts. On a personal note: I thought that the scene with the giant sandwich that attacks Moldy in the warehouse (if you weren't there, I'm not explaining it to you) was very well done, with a costume that would have been right at home on KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER.

When the spoof had finished, Buddy Scalera, Michael Fasulo, Amy So, and Michael Straniere came out on stage and answered questions from the audience.

After the usual mid-meeting break, we showed a short interview with David Duchovny on the DAVID LETTERMAN SHOW. Then Buddy and the two Michaels came back to talk about COMIXVISION.

COMIXVISION is a monthly public access cable show about the comic book industry. Buddy and Muchael Fasulo are the co-hosts, Michael Straniere is the director, and Amy So is involved on the production end of things.

There were a lot of funny stories about the production of a zero budget cable show, but the best of them concerned Adam West. Mr West was doing a signing at Starlog in Paramus when the first show of COMIXVISION was being filmed. They called and received permission from Mr West's agent to do a quick video interview, but when they arrived with their equipment, Mr West haughtily informed them that he was too big a star for cable and only did interviews on network shows.

As usual, a number of club members pitched in to give a hand. Thanks to Charles Garofalo and Roy Greenberg for help with the refreshments, James La Barre for help with the clean up, Patricia Nash for bringing the television and VCR, Michael Piazza for being a really nice guy and helping a friend, Greg Roman for help with the set up, Sharon Roberg for donating cassettes to our "for sale" tables, Greg Ventura and Sharon Carroll-Ventura for their persistence at finally making one of our meetings despite all obstacles, and especially Pamela Webber for too many things to enumerate.
