VIDEO PROGRAM:

Patricia Malone

Patricia Malone was one of the leading lights of the early metropolitan area scene. She was the head of the New York Chapter of the Cartoon Fantasy Organization and the later Anime Fantasy Association. This goes back to the time when the general public was completely unaware of anime. It was shown on BetaMax tapes mailed from Japan and played at science fiction conventions and anime fan groups, with someone who knew Japanese giving a commentary about what was going on.

John Mullen

John Mullen had been a member of the old Bergen County Science Fiction Society, the incubator of the Science Fiction Association of Bergen County. He was a book reviewer, a musician, and an amateur filmmaker, going back to the days when you grabbed a group of friends and a super-8 camera and shot a short film, though his later works were shot on videotape. He likely showed one or more of the compilation short, Le Zombies; a Star Trek fan film who's title I forget; The Hooting of Haunt House; Guatemalan Adventure; an Indiana Jones fan film; The Masticators (about a group of friends who get together and eat an enormous amount of food to the sounds of classical music); and some other shorts).
