When Shawna Mc Carthy spoke before the Association, she was the editor of ISAAC ASIMOV'S SCIENCE FICTION magazine. She later became the editor of REALMS OF FANTASY magazine and a literary agent.

Meeting Memories:
This meeting was a lot of fun because of a handout Shawna brought with her. She and the others at ASIMOV'S would collect malaprops, misspellings, and all manner of instances of bad writing. She passed out the sheets during her talk, and slowly the tittering began. The captain with "a firm, but genital hold on his men" and the "penile colony on the moon" are a few of the howlers that stick in memory.
