Author/reviewer Matthew Costello gave a wide ranging talk at the February 11, 1989 meeting of the S.F.A.B.C. Mr Costello, a columnist for ANALOG and ASIMOV Magazines, as well as an author of horror, fantasy, and science fiction books, talked about how he became involved in the field, trends he has witnessed, and current and future projects he is undertaking.
In addition to Mr Costello and his wife, Ann, we were guested by writer Robert Thurston and editor Ginjer Buchanan, two of our past speakers. After a short break in Mr Costello's talk, they joined him to form an impromptu panel.
The meeting was held at the Yeager home. Among those joining us for pot luck dinner were Jill Orovitz, Bill Molendyk, Nancy Denker, Chuck Garofalo, Paul Dellechiaie and the entire Yeager clan. Nancy Cucci ws in from Huntsville, AL with baby Nancy Renee (a.k.a. Goo Baby) for an extended visit. Between Goo Baby and Nicholas Higgins, there were nearly enough babies to go around to everyone who wanted to hold one.
There were 27 of us there, including newcomers Ellen Greenfield and Melvin Greenberg. Best line of the night was by Dave Stephens who said, after touring the house, "Where's the bar? I need a drink!"
Bill Molendyk brought a pair of Commodores for computer games. Robbie Archer and Anthony Galasso slipped away to D&D in the Spanish Room. A real good time was had by all.
