There were twenty two adults present at the April 14, 1990 meeting of the Science Fiction Association of Bergen County. It was one of the oddest mixtures of attendees ever to grace one of our meetings. There were an awful lot of unfamiliar faces at what was essentially old home week at the S.F.A.B.C.

Guest speakers Brendan and Robin (nee Rothstein) Faulkner are former members who haven't been down in about five years. Ditto for Darlene Mulder (nee Barrek) and Paul Mulder. Paul D'Amico hasn't shown his face in over three years. Paul Scrabo has been absent for a couple of years. Ben Ellison, Jackie Hecht (nee Pratt) and Mark Hecht all have not made an appearance in a year or so. Since the mix included one newcomer, Sal Barone, there were an awful lot of people who didn't know each other.

The featured attraction was the sci fi/horror/humourous film, THE KILLER DEAD. Brendan was the producer, co-writer, and director of this movie. Robin served as co-executive producer.

The first part of the program was viewing a videotape of the movie itself. I had not seen the flick before booking the Faulkners and really had my fingers crossed on this one. To my delight, it was a solidly produced piece with a number of clever, light touches and was cheered by all.

When the film was over, we took a short break and then resumed with a question and answer period. Brendan and Robin were joined on stage by Ray Cooper and Paul D'Amico who were zombie extras in the movie. The discussion ranged from financing an indepedent movie to what it felt like to claw your way out from a shallow grave.

All in all, a rather different but very nice meeting. It was also a treat to see Mark and Jackie's baby, Julia.
