The Science Fiction Association of Bergen County met on Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the Bergen Highlands United Methodist Church in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. Author Ann Tonsor Zeddies, aka Toni Anzetti, was the evening's guest speaker.

Pre meeting activities consisted of the Anime Associates' screening of ROUJIN Z and the Final Frontier's discussion of movie adaptaions of Philip K Dick's writings. Barry Weinberger led the lively discussion and played the BLADE RUNNER soundtrack in the background.

Ann Tonsor Zeddies has written five science fiction novels published by Del Rey books, three under her name and two as Toni Anzetti. Her most recent novel is STEEL HELIX, which is a prequel to the other books. It deals with the conflict between the human race and the Original Men, a new race genetically engineered to replace and be superior to humanity. It is not a military sf novel, but rather the story of a human doctor pressed into service aboard an Original Man star ship who subverts a portion of its crew by retelling classic myths to create a vision of a future of coexistence.

The conversation included martial arts, pacifism, sf marketing, THE SILVER SURFER, Ben Franklin, being stung by a jelly fish in the South Pacific, getting the local Texas garden club sloshed at Christmas, and a whole lot more. It was a fun meeting, and the Zeddies' joined the gang at Matthews' Diner at the end of the evening.

Thanks to Dawn Harris for the cookies, Pamela Webber for the cupcakes, Roy Greenberg for the Earl Grey, and especially to Barry Weinberger and Robert Pinkus for the men's room mop up, and everyone who helped with the set up or clean up for our 20th anniversary bash.
