Have you ever thrown a party only to find that no one showed up? Things weren't quite that bad at the June 11, 1988 club picnic, but it would be no small understatement to observe that the gathering was under attended. This was rather disappointing since the weather was fine and past picnics had drawn well.

First to arrive and last to leave were the sextet of Nancy Denker, Philip De Parto, Phil Duran, Pat Flinch, Charles Garofalo and Anthony Pawlak. For much of the day, the WERE the picnic.

Among the highlights of the afternoon were a lot of spirited frisbee tossing. Even Chuck and Nancy who often abstain got dragged into this. Little Jamie Archer took a number of adults for short walks during the day. Patti Flinch is rumored to have some silly photos of Fearless Leader playing Hide & Go Seek with the tyke. Roy Greenberg continued steamrolling the gaming opposition. This time the game was scrabble and the victims were the team of Chuck and Anthony.

There were officially nine of us in attendance. In addition to the original six, this number includes Robert Yeager, who popped by during his lunch hour and after work was over, Ken Lee, in from Queens by way of Massachusetts, and Roy Greenberg.

Unofficially, we numbered a score. Six members of the Archer clan stayed for a while. The three member New Age band, Noble Gas, encountered at the Cultural Festival a few weeks earlier showed their faces. Alice and Bill Yeager (parents of members Douglas and Robert) dropped by (they graciously allowed us to use their grill, utensils, etc.) to indulge in a hamburger, and Carol Smith visited briefly.

After we cleaned up, a group of us headed over to Cool Scoops in Hawthorne for ice cream, comic books, and 1950's rock and roll.
