The Science Fiction Association of Bergen County's annual Pot luck Dinner / Holiday Party was held at the Bergen Highlands United Methodist Church in Upper Saddle River on Saturday, December 10, 2012.

The set up crew consisted of Gina Arolo, Philip De Parto, Charles Garofalo, Roy Greenberg, newcomer Robert Haney, Joan Higgins, Kathy Holusha, Debra Matofsky, Greg Roman, Jeni Spiewak, Ingrid Staats and Taras Wolansky. Their assistance is very much appreciated.

Main dishes included fried chicken (Taras), London Broil (Pamela Webber), meatballs (Chuck), meat lasagna (Clare Deming), pasta with vegetables (Roy), rotisserie chicken (John Jurich), sausage and peppers (Ingrid), and unseasoned ground beef (Phil).

Vegetables included butternut squash (Patricia Nash), green salad (Kathy), ratatouille and quinoa (Jeni), Russian Salad (Iulian and Rachel Ionescu), sautéed onions and celery (Pam), steamed carrots (Jeni), tabouleh (Conor MacFinn) and a vegetable platter (Larry Soria).

Appetizers and side dishes included chips and dip (Peter Barboto), chips and salsa (Irene Evans), a cold cut platter (Melinda Randolph and Geoffrey Young), a fruit platter (Angela Mallon), fruit salad (Steve Herr), guacamole (Robert H), rice-a-roni (Phil), rolls and butter (Joan Higgins), shrimp ring (Robert Yeager) and vegetable lo mein (Gina).

Deserts included apple pie (Greg), cannoli (Jan Buinis), cannoli cake (George Galuschak), cinnamon rolls (John Upton), chocolate chip cookies (Karen Chan), cookie assortment (Deb) and three-fruit pie (Lonny Buinis).

Beverages included brewed tea (Roy), coffee and milk (Phil), iced tea (Phil), apple cider (Phil) and soda (Chuck).

PLANET 51, which was shown before the food was served, drew a small but appreciative audience. Only a couple of people attended the Infinite Images screening of the film in 2011, and I was happy to again present it. John Upton put on a Radio City Music All ROCKETTES CHRISTMAS SPECIAL later in the evening.

One highlight of the night found former workmates Jan Buinis and Susan Duchak discovering that both of their husbands belong to the club and getting caught up on each other's lives. Another was Irene Evans' use of grandchildren Andrew and Anthony Randolph as Christmas card carriers.

The clean up crew was comprised of Philip De Parto, George Galuschak, Steve Herr, Kathy Holusha, Conor MacFinn, Larry Soria and Pamela Webber.

Apologies to anyone overlooked on the set up or clean up crews, and to anyone whose food contributions were not noted.
