The Science Fiction Association of Bergen County met at the Bergen Highlands United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 10, 2004. Ghost investigator and author Linda Zimmermann was the featured speaker.

The evening began with a screening of the Anime version of METROPOLIS. Our Anime Associates commenced ten minutes early due to the length of the video.

Vincent Carlucci assumed the reins of the Bergen County Final Frontier with a discussion of Arrogant Aliens at 6:30 PM. The discussion was like a reunion of the Livingston Final Frontier, with regulars Kathy Holusha, Steve Rubin, Jim Spinosa, Steve Spinosa, Pamela Webber and Barry Weinberger among those who attended the event.

Ghost Investigator Linda Zimmermann was the evening's featured speaker. The first part of the talk was a general overview of her experiences in this field, accompanied by slides, and then focused on four specific sites.

One was an abandoned penitentiary in Philadelphia which -- as native Philadelphian William Wagner pointed out -- was used as a set in the movie 12 MONKEYS. Linda's Ghost Investigation Team spent the night in unlit adjoining cells on death row, listening to things that go bump -- and bang -- in the night.

The next site was a bit less exotic. A woman who lived across the street from a cemetery in Wappingers Falls, New York thought it would be a jolly good idea to install some wrought iron gates that had belonged to the cemetery at the entrance to her property. She was soon up to her neck in dueling ghosts.

The third was a large mental institution in New York State which she could not name due to legal reasons. Ms Zimmermann spoke about lights and noises which came from buildings which had long been abandoned.

The final major site was the Lizzie Bordon home. There was more than a little drama involved with this locale. She began by outlining the murders which had occurred there, as well as the sloppy policework employed. The house now functions as a bed and breakfast, with the bedees often retired detectives who have come to definitively crack the case. It is also in a very bad neighborhood, across the street from a bus station.

When Team Zimmermann arrived, they discovered a dozen people waiting to be admitted and no one on site. When there was no indication that anyone was about, she called the police department, who responded in force. What Linda didn't know was that the day before, someone had been murdered in the bus station, and the police feared the worst. They arrived at the house with their guns drawn. One could not have scripted such a scenario.

Linda Zimmermann again gave a riveting presentation. Our thanks to everyone who helped to make it an enjoyable evening.
