The annual Holiday Party / Pot Luck Dinner of the Science Fiction Association of Bergen County was held on Saturday, December 10, 2011. The activity was held at the Bergen Highlands United Methodist Church because the venue better accommodates an event of this sort because of the larger kitchen, the layout of the eating area, and because the Cultural Center had just laid in new carpeting which they did not wish soiled with food or drink stains.

A variety of anime videos were shown before and during the dinner. These included episodes of DARKER THAN BLACK and the movie, HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE.

A number of people arrived early to help with the set p. Thanks to Chuck, Roy, Kathy, Angela, Mindy, Ingrid, and anyone else who helped, as well as Pam, George and the rest of the clean up crew.

We had food in abundance and a good variety within each category. The list below represents most, but not all, of what was brought by the attendees.

Main dishes included a bucket of chicken (Taras Wolansky), meatballs (Chuck), chicken with broccoli (Irene), London broil (Phil), cooked, unseasoned ground beef (Phil), and pasta, sausage, and meatballs (Robert).

Side dishes consisted of cheese, bread and crackers (Bobbi), Spanish rice and Mexican rice (Phil), French bread pizza (Roy), shrimp rings (Joan), sausage bread (Ingrid and Gina), humus (Conor), and white rice (Pam).

Vegetables included string bean casserole (Phil), green salad (Kathy), butternut squash (John J and Pat), eggplant parmigiana (Angela), vegetables & dip (Mindy), and Chinese vegetables (Tom S).

Desserts and snacks consisted of cannoli cake (George), ice cream (Moshe), cookies (Steve), cupcakes (Kathy), apple pie (Greg), fruit platter (Larry), cinnamon rolls (John U), and chips, pretzels, salsa and dip (Peter).

Beverage brought included sparkling cider (Tom B), apple juice (Phil), coffee (Phil), milk (Phil), iced tea (Phil), orange jouice (Moshe), and soda by several people.

Irene Evans brought her grandchildren Andrew and Anthoy who entertained and were entertained by many. She has pictures to give to Gina, Bobbi, and Pat when she next sees them.

Moshe is marked as not officially present as he got a last minute photo shoot. He did drop off his ice cream and orange juice and grabbed a plate of food on the run, however.

Conversations were rich and varied. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. It was good to see so many of the group at the affair.
