The Association held its annual summertime meeting at the Peking Duck House on Saturday, August 9, 1997. Although attendance was down from the past two years, we did fulfill our commitment for 30 dinners. Thanks to everyone who joined us for dinner.

Artist Stephen Youll was our featured speaker. Mr Youll brought a tray and a third of slides for his presentation. This was the first time the artist was giving a slide show, and there were a few rough spots during the demonstration, but anyone who made the meeting was able to see the work of a very good artist.

In addition to the slides, Mr Youll brought three of his original paintings and a number of his preliminary sketches. He talked about his love of science fiction illustration which he and his brother formed in their early childhood, and showed work from his days as a student to a multi-slide step-by-step advertisement he did for IBM.
