Also attending were Ellen's assistant, Moshe Feder (who later became an editor at the Doubleday Book Clubs), future science fiction writer William Mc Carthy, and independent film maker (and future guest) Brendan Faulkner.
Meeting Memories:
Ellen Asher was the editor of the Science Fiction Book Club for many years (she was unfortunately recently let go). This was an important meeting for the Association because things went wrong. The Cultural Center lacked air conditioning and it was a sweltering July evening. The meeting was held outside on and around the stairs of the side entrance where there was at least some ventilation.
I believe that we rescheduled our August meeting to a restaurant. This began a tradition of holding summer (June, July, August) meetings at a variety of other venues including picnics in parks, and meetings at bookstores and restaurants.
